Paper Moose set to host ‘Is gen AI the great equaliser?’ MooseBites event in Sydney on Thursday 22 October
Paper Moose is bringing back its MooseBites event series on Thursday 22 October, with founder and CEO Nick Hunter and a panel of challenger brand marketers set to debate whether generative AI is really levelling the playing field.
Taking place at Paper Moose’s Surry Hills HQ from 6pm, ‘Is gen AI the great equaliser?’ will look at what gen AI actually delivers, what it costs and where humans remain key.
The agency’s premise is that generative AI is flattening the field: the big TVC no longer requires the big TVC budget, which matters in an economy asking marketers to do more with less. The question is no longer “can we afford it?” but “what do we do with the advantage?”
Hunter will open the night with a keynote that pulls back the curtain on Paper Moose’s recent work and the proprietary technology stack behind it, covering the tools, the team structure, the bespoke agentic harnesses, what broke along the way, and what it means for the economics of challenger brand marketing.
He will then moderate a panel of three marketers finding out in real time:
• Oscar McMahon, Co-founder, Young Henrys: Fresh from launching Super Rice Lager into BWS and Dan Murphy’s, McMahon will share what the equaliser looks like from the founder’s chair.
• James Dysel, Founder, Make Marketing Better: Most recently at Snack Brands Australia, Dysel brings the brand-side view on what AI changes for shelf brands fighting for attention against the biggest budgets in the category, and what it can’t fix.
• Samantha Hansen, Marketing Director, Raw C: Hansen leads marketing at one of Australia’s fastest-moving challenger beverage brands, which is actively working out where AI production earns its keep.
The panel will cover:
• The equaliser argument: does gen AI genuinely level the playing field for challengers, or is it a rising tide that lifts the big boats faster?
• What it genuinely unlocks: production speed, iteration, testing and personalisation at scale
• What it can’t: taste, strategy and giving people a reason to care
The discussion will be followed by a live Q&A, then drinks.
The event is aimed at founders, CMOs and marketing leads of challenger brands who want the punch of a big agency without the invoice. Seats are limited.
