Rick Barry appoints former M+C Saatchi CD Andrew Torrisi as Creative Director

Independent creative studio Rick Barry has added award-winning creative director Andrew Torrisi to its ranks, following a run of new business wins.

Torrisi joins from M&C Saatchi, having previously spent several years at both DDB Sydney (now Clemenger BBDO) and TBWA Sydney. Along the way, he’s helped create work including McDonald’s ‘The Original Mouthful’, Volkswagen Amarok’s ‘Born From Tough Love’, mycar’s ‘R Plates’ and Tourism New Zealand’s ‘PLAY NZ’.

His work has been awarded at Cannes, D&AD, One Show, Spikes, AWARD, Adfest and LIA, while Torrisi and creative partner Stephanie Allen were named DDB’s Creative Team of the Year in 2023.

Says Alex Derwin, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Rick Barry: “Andrew is exactly the kind of creative leader we want at Rick Barry. He’s got a strategic brain, incredible creative skills and the voice of an angel according to his old bandmates. Most importantly he’s a big hearted guy with incredible experience, who is keen to nurture our young team. He only started a couple of weeks ago and he’s already making a huge difference.”

Says Torrisi: “Alex and Hugh are creating something special here. A place where creativity has permission to let loose and have fun. I’m honoured to be part of their vision moving forward.”

The appointment follows Rick Barry’s recent Tourism & Events Northern Territory win, which has seen the studio establish a Darwin presence and begin work on a new global brand platform for the Territory.
