Kill Boring Dead offers aspiring creatives one-hour agency careers as part of Melbourne Fringe
Fancy a career in advertising but prefer to commit to a short time first? Kill Boring Dead (KBD) is opening its Collingwood HQ for Melbourne Fringe 2026, giving budding creatives and curious punters a desk, a role and a taste of agency life, for an hour!
Work Here For One Hour is an immersive, interactive comedy experience that puts audiences inside a ‘fictional’ agency adventure. And the reason why the agency is opening its doors? KBD is giving back to the industry and importantly they’ve also landed a huge new account, the brief needs cracking and everyone in the room will have a part to play.
For aspiring creatives, it’s an opportunity to step inside an independent agency, meet the people behind the work and experience the energy of tackling a brief together, with a generous helping of Fringe absurdity.
Across four nights, guests will clock in, join the team and get stuck into meetings, ideas and the entertaining business of helping to create a great idea from scratch. With fewer than twenty desks available each night, there’s no hiding at the back pretending to check emails.
For KBD, it’s a chance to put its creative convictions into practice, turning its own workplace into a participatory show where the audience helps shape what happens next.
“People see the finished campaigns, but they rarely get to experience the conversations, collaboration and unexpected ideas that get you there,” says Marcus Willis, co-founder and CEO of Kill Boring Dead.
“We thought opening our doors for Fringe was a pretty good way to change that. Creativity and art matter to us, and this is a chance to invite people in and make something fun together. If you’ve ever wondered whether agency life is for you, come and give it an hour. The career commitment is refreshingly low.”
Guests should arrive ten minutes early for onboarding, as even a one-hour career deserves a proper introduction.
