Bestads Best TV of the Week: People Like Us ‘Reject the Rejections’ via Worth Your While, Denmark

Each week Bestadsontv.com [the global arm of Campaign Brief] showcases standout global advertising work as reviewed by a top international creative director or team. This week’s best film is People Like Us’ ‘Reject the Rejections’ via Worth Your While, Denmark.

The film was selected by this week’s guest judge Harsh Kapadia, Head of Enterprise Creative, Code and Theory, New York.

“This film captures a beautiful performance that unpacks a frustrating reality so many people are living through right now,” says Kapadia. “At no point does it feel like a plea for sympathy; instead, you walk away with a real sense of solidarity, knowing there are others in this with you. It also serves as a sharp, timely wake-up call to employers to be more thoughtful about the automated “AI slop” replies they’re sending to candidates. Tight editing keeps you locked in from start to finish. Just a really well-crafted piece of film.”

People Like Us launched Reject the Rejections, a new campaign created in partnership with creative agency Worth Your While. The campaign has several objectives: to raise awareness among rejected job applicants that they may have the right to request a human review of their application if they suspect the decision was made by automation; to urge employers to disclose the use of automation in their hiring processes and commit to independent bias audits; and finally, to call on the government to consider screening transparency laws. At the heart of the campaign is a powerful 4 minute short film starring British actor Ebenezer Gyau (Amandaland, Black Mirror, Suspect). Directed by critically acclaimed director Amara Abbas through new—land productions, Dear [Name] transforms the language of real rejection emails sent to real ethnic minority candidates into a powerful spoken-word performance about hope, exclusion and the invisible barriers facing talented candidates.
