Mitch Brown battles his own mullet for the spotlight in new Mosh hair loss campaign
Former AFL player Mitch Brown played 99 AFL games during his career. These days, he’s playing second fiddle to a puppet. Brown returns alongside Mullet, a custom puppet modelled on his trademark hairstyle, in the latest installment of Mosh, the largest Australian-owned digital health platform for men.
In the national hair loss campaign, Brown appears as the host of a late night talk show, only to find himself repeatedly upstaged by an unruly cohost.
The series of TV ads uses humour to tackle a subject many men still avoid discussing, hair loss. It continues Mosh’s long-running focus on men’s hair health, with more than 60,000 men having accessed hair loss treatment through the platform.
Brown is talking publicly about how he was losing his hair, and with it, his confidence; a familiar story to men across the country: “I’ve been with Mosh for years to help manage my hair loss. People know me for the mullet, but behind that there was a real concern about losing my hair and how that would affect my confidence. That is why this campaign feels personal to me.
“Men aren’t always great at talking about the things that make us feel self-conscious, and hair loss is definitely one of them. The whole point of this campaign is to use humour to open that door. If a puppet with a mullet gets someone talking about their hair loss, that’s a pretty good use of a puppet with a mullet.”
The campaign is the latest project from Mosh’s in-house brand studio, following animated TVCs, outdoor campaigns and the brand’s ongoing partnership with Good Things Festival, which will return in 2026.
Says Olivia Whiting, Content & Campaigns Lead at Mosh and Moshy: “The joke is that Mitch is literally being overshadowed by his own hair, but there’s something quite real underneath it.
“A lot of men notice their hair changing, worry about it for months or years, and never actually speak to anyone. We wanted the campaign to make that first conversation feel a bit easier.”
Established in 2016, Mosh is now one of Australia’s most popular online health brands, specifically designed to get men talking about and acting on their health, from hair to weight loss and beyond.
The latest installment of the campaign will run across screens and online from Wednesday 30 September.
