Award-winning ECD Jordan Sky departs Saatchi & Saatchi New Zealand following 12-year stint

After an incredible 12-year stint, Executive Creative Director Jordan Sky has left Saatchi & Saatchi New Zealand, announcing his departure on LinkedIn.

Sky, an award-winning Executive Creative Director and Copywriter with more than 25 years’ experience, was promoted to ECD in November 2022, having led creative work and teams across some of New Zealand’s most recognised brands, including Toyota, Lexus, Westpac, Chorus and Z Energy.

Sky wrote on LinkedIn: “Putting the ‘ex’ in Executive Creative Director. After 12 years at Saatchi & Saatchi NZ I am now officially… Available. Which is a much nicer word than unemployed.

“12 years is a long time to spend anywhere. In adland, it’s almost suspicious. But getting to help helm an agency like Saatchi & Saatchi is the kind of thing most creatives only get to dream about. And to be honest, I spent a fair bit of those 12 years wondering how I kept getting asked to stick around. But I’m glad I did. I’ve seen plenty of chapters begin and end in my time, managed to work with some brilliant people, and make some brilliant work too. Hard to ask for much more than that.”

Before joining Saatchi & Saatchi, he led and grew DDB Aotearoa’s retail offering while also serving as Creative Director on the trans-Tasman McDonald’s account. Prior to that, he worked at FCB New Zealand, Saatchi & Saatchi, Y&R and Ogilvy.

Across his career, Sky has worked across a broad client base spanning banking, telecommunications, automotive, government, FMCG, tourism, pharmaceuticals and QSR, with his work recognised at major local and international award shows including D&AD, LIA, One Show, Spikes, Axis, Effies and more.

As for what’s next, Sky says he’s taking a beat: “In the meantime, to anyone I’ve promised a vague lunch, coffee or drink sometime… my calendar has suddenly become remarkably accommodating.”
