The Inspired Unemployed pull back the curtain on building ARRIVAL in new documentary series
Nearly a year on from launch, ARRIVAL, the travel platform founded by Jack Steele and Matt Ford of The Inspired Unemployed, has launched its four-part documentary series that tells the real story of how it all came together.
The first episode launched last week and can be viewed below, with the second episode dropping tomorrow, May 12, on The Inspired Unemployed and ARRIVAL’s YouTube channels. Two further episodes will follow, released weekly.
The series goes behind the scenes of one of Australia’s most exciting brand launches of 2025 – following Jack and Matt from the initial idea through to building a team, testing trips, landing major partnerships, and sending thousands of Australians on adventures across the globe. It’s an unfiltered look at what it actually takes to start a travel company from scratch, the people who made it happen alongside them, and more than a few moments where it nearly didn’t.
“We wanted to document the whole thing properly from the start because we knew it was going to be a wild ride,” says co-founder Jack Steele. “And it was. This is the real version of how ARRIVAL got built.”
Since launching, ARRIVAL has sent thousands of Aussies on trips to destinations including Vietnam, Japan, Kazakhstan, Nepal and beyond. The platform is the exclusive travel partner of Tomorrowland Thailand and Snow Machine. Last week, ARRIVAL partnered with Inspired Unemployed (Impractical) Jokers alum Liam Moore to lead an Everest Base Camp trip – which sold out within just two days.
“There are a lot of people who built this with us that most people have never heard of,” says co-founder Matt Ford. “This documentary is as much about them as it is about us.”
