Heckler is celebrating a huge moment for lead editor Andrew Holmes, who over the weekend picked up two Ellie Awards at the Australian Screen Editors (ASE) Awards. Holmes was recognised for his work on ‘Through My Eyes’, the global campaign for the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) released on Human Rights Day and for Apple ‘Lessons’, the new brand film created for Apple India.

These wins cap off an extraordinary year for Holmes and the wider team behind Through My Eyes, which has also taken out Best Editing at the AWARD Awards, CLIOS, and the 1.4 Awards.

Reflecting on the achievement, Holmes says: “What an awesome way to finish the year. Honestly, just being nominated felt huge, so to actually be recognised by the Australian Screen Editors is something I’m incredibly grateful for. I can’t thank the ASE enough. These awards are a testament to the incredible collaborations I’ve been lucky enough to be part of over the past 12–15 months, both personally and with the team at Heckler. It’s always nice to be recognised for your craft, but what really fuels me is the next opportunity. Huge congrats to all the winners and nominees, there’s so much talent in Australian post-production. And big love to my little family for backing me through the late nights, the chaos, the passion projects, and everything in between. Feeling fired up for what’s next.

“I’m particularly proud of Through My Eyes. It started as the mother of all passion projects, and over the course of four months it became the next major brand piece for the UNHCR and ended up being released on Human Rights Day. Being part of that journey was incredible, and I’m genuinely so proud of what we achieved.”

Holmes is now gearing up for the premiere of his upcoming documentary True South, set to debut on Jan 11 at Westpac’s Openair Cinema in Sydney, followed by theatrical release.

Says Will Alexander, co-founder and Executive Producer at Heckler: “Andrew’s achievements this year speak for themselves. He’s an exceptional editor with a rare instinct for storytelling, and his creativity and versatility continue to push the standard of what we deliver at Heckler. We couldn’t be prouder of the work he’s doing and the recognition he’s earning.”

The Ellie Awards celebrate the very best in editing, recognising the artistry, craft, and essential role editors play in bringing stories to life on screen.
