Perth creative leader Dav Tabeshfar launches new in-house creative consultancy, Directer
Perth creative director and agency founder Dav Tabeshfar is launching a new in-house creative consultancy, Directer.
The new venture will place senior creative consultants with marketing teams to help them elevate their in-house creative capabilities. Tabeshfar said Creative ‘Directers’ will be matched to brands and their needs, offering creative direction, mentoring, recruitment services and a valuable external perspective.
This is not Tabeshfar’s first new agency venture. In 2017, he co-founded &Partners, which merged with KWPX in 2023 to become KWP+Partners. After helping to facilitate the transition, he decided it was time to explore new opportunities, and respond to the shift in the way marketers want to work.
Says Tabeshfar: “We’ve all spent the last decade years watching agencies shrink as in-house teams expand. Smart marketers are still working with good creative agencies, but they’re far more selective about the kind of work that gets briefed-out. Fair enough. Embedded, brand-fluent employees are far better placed to tackle day-to-day design and content creation than external agencies. But, you can’t expect an internal team to have an external perspective. And not many marketers can justify adding full-time creative leadership to their headcount. So, in-house teams seldom enjoy the same level of specialised mentoring and guidance found at creative agencies. That’s the gap Directer can fill – consultant creative directors to elevate your people, and the work they do.”
As a creative director and educator, Tabeshfar has spent much of his career nurturing commercial creativity in students, creatives and clients. He has won over 100 local, national, and international awards, including PADC Copywriter of the Year three times, and Australia’s most coveted effectiveness award, the Grand Effie.
