Scott Dettrick departs national ECD role at M+C Saatchi for yet to be revealed venture in 2026
Campaign Brief can reveal that National Executive Creative Director Scott Dettrick has departed M+C Saatchi Group, after 18 months in the role.
CB understands that Dettrick resigned from the agency in June and officially departed in late September, with a new venture set to be revealed in the new year.
Dettrick initially joined M+C Saatchi in March 2024 as joint National Executive Creative Director, working alongside both Emma Robbins and Steve Coll.
With over two decades of experience spanning design, art direction, music composition, writing and film direction, Dettrick’s creative resume includes work as a designer and art director at Australian fashion label Mambo, and even a stint performing as a stand-up comedian.
Prior to M+C Saatchi, Dettrick was a founding creative at The Monkeys (now Droga5) and played a pivotal role in shaping the agency’s reputation for culture-shifting, award-winning work. Over the years, he has led campaigns for brands such as MLA (Beef & Lamb), Amazon, IKEA, Audi, Qantas, Telstra, UBank, Canadian Club, Jim Beam and -196. Most recently, he helped close the generation gap for Australian Lamb, continuing a long legacy of bold, conversation-starting work for the brands annual ad.
Dettrick’s work has been recognised globally at Cannes, D&AD, AWARD, LIA, Clio, Spikes Asia and the Webby Awards. He has helped win multiple Agency of the Year titles including seven Campaign Brief Agency of the Year titles. His campaigns have also earned numerous effectiveness awards, including three Global Grand Effies.
Dettrick made a significant creative contribution to The Monkeys, which was named Campaign Brief Agency of the Year four times during his tenure: 2015, 2017, 2021 and 2023.
Dettrick served on the Australian Advertising Council’s AWARD Council and was National Co-Head of AWARD School, where he helped shape the next generation of creative talent.
The news follows the departure of Chief Creative Officer Steve Coll, alongside the promotion of Emma Robbins to the role of National Chief Creative Officer, as part of broader shifts across the group. Earlier this year, Dani Bassil joined as CEO, replacing Justin Graham, who stepped down after 12 years with the business. Prior to that, former Chief Executive Officer ANZ Michael McEwan departed to join Droga5 Melbourne, and more recently, Richard Morgan exited after two years as ECD of Greenhouse Collective — M&C Saatchi Group AUNZ’s bespoke, integrated agency model for Woolworths Group.
