Bestads Best TV of the Week: Spark New Zealand ‘Split’ via Colenso BBDO, Auckland

Each week Bestads showcases standout global advertising work as reviewed by an esteemed international creative director or team. This week’s best TV ad is Spark New Zealand’s ‘Split’, created by Colenso BBDO, Auckland.

 

The ad was selected by this week’s guest judge Mike Roe, Chief Creative Officer at Hanson Dodge in Milwaukee.

Says Roe: “With social audio rapidly becoming optional these days, visually-arresting stories are critical. This spot had my attention at the car splitting apart and I enjoyed seeing where the journey, and her phone network, would take her before the vehicle zipped back together. Charming. Smart. Underplayed. I leaned in.”

Spark’s brand promise is brought to life through a surreal visual metaphor its new brand campaign ‘Split’ created by Colenso BBDO. A young woman’s car is torn apart, launching her into an unexpected journey powered by Spark’s network. The film, directed by Damien Shatford at The Sweetshop, captures the brand’s new positioning: It’s better with Spark.
