Former Ogilvy and WPP leader Megan Clark Cook joins Thompson Spencer as Managing Partner

Full-funnel agency Thompson Spencer has announced the appointment of Megan Clark Cook as Managing Partner.
A maestro of integration and opportunity, Clark Cook will play a pivotal role in driving growth across new and existing client partnerships, orchestrating the collective power of Thomson Spencer’s expanded offering. Following the landmark merger with Reason earlier this year, seven specialist businesses and an in-house production suite have now all been united under one brand, making Thompson Spencer one of the largest independent agencies in New Zealand.
Clark Cook’s arrival came at a perfect time for Thompson Spencer, with the agency’s momentum building by the day seeing an increasing number of major client pitches on the board. Her remit is to ensure the group’s diverse capabilities hum in harmony, delivering seamless, full-funnel results with uncapped potential for clients as the agency delivers world-class creative, media and performance solutions across both New Zealand and international markets.
“Megan is an outstanding leader, with the rare ability to blend entrepreneurial drive with big-network expertise,” says Melanie Spencer, Co-CEO of Thompson Spencer. “As well as proving her ability to build businesses from scratch, she’s driven growth for some of the world’s most iconic brands. Bringing her on board as Managing Partner is a huge win for us, and most importantly, for our clients. She will help harness and direct the incredible opportunities now possible with Thompson Spencer’s ever-growing expertise.”
Clark Cook brings unquestionable pedigree to the role. She launched Copper Brand Experiences, New Zealand’s first ever experiential agency, pioneering the industry and growing it into the country’s most awarded in its field before selling to WPP. She went on to hold Managing Partner roles at both Wunderman Thompson and Ogilvy, accelerating growth and strengthening partnerships with major brands including Samsung, Ford, The University of Auckland, and Coca-Cola.
Beyond her client work, Clark Cook has long been a respected voice in the communications industry, serving on the Executive Board of the Comms Council, chairing multiple industry councils, judging globally at Cannes Lions and Spikes Asia, as well as judging here in Aotearoa at Effies, Axis, and Pressies.
“It’s an incredibly exciting time to be joining Thompson Spencer,” says Clark Cook. “The agency has grown into a true independent and integrated powerhouse, with a staggering amount of deep, specialist expertise. What has me the most fired up is the opportunity to help the team unlock the full potential of that integration for our clients, delivering unstoppable impact.”
With a growing team of experts all under one roof, and Clark Cook now helping to write the pitch-perfect business score, Thompson Spencer is setting a very high bar for how independent agencies can deliver scale, integration, and results.
