Former M+C Saatchi CD Russel Fox joins Special Australia as Group Creative Director

Award-winning creative director Russel Fox has joined Special Australia in the role of Group Creative Director, following a nearly seven-year stint at M+C Saatchi Melbourne.
Fox confirmed the move in a LinkedIn post, writing: “Started at Special Australia this week. Massive thanks to everyone who’s helped me get here. Looking forward to creating work that lives up to the name.”
Fox’s advertising career began at Clemenger BBDO Melbourne. In 2010 he relocated to BBDO New York where he honed his skills working on major global clients including Guinness, Starbucks, and Pepsi.
He returned to Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, playing a key role in helping the agency become the 2017 Cannes Lion Agency of the year, before joining M+C Saatchi Melbourne as Creative Director in 2018. During his time there, he helped lead the agency to major creative wins, including a coveted D&AD Yellow Pencil and a Green Pencil at The One Show for Minderoo Foundation’s ‘The Plastic Forecast’.
His work has been recognised at every major award show including Cannes, D&AD, The One Show, Clio, London International, New York Festivals, Webbys, Young Guns and AWARD.
Beyond agency walls, Fox has been an active contributor to the broader industry, regularly lecturing, judging and mentoring the next generation of Australian creative talent.
