Following the success of Mattel’s Malibu Barbie Café across the United States, the Mushroom Group in partnership with Mattel, Bucket Listers and Chadstone shopping centre, presents the highly anticipated Australian debut of the Malibu Barbie Café at Chadstone.

 

Opening today Friday 27 June for a limited time only, this two-storey family-friendly pop-up offers guests the ultimate Barbiecore dining experience paired with a vibrant Malibu Barbie Café x Impala roller rink, exclusive merchandise, and picture-perfect opportunities at every turn.

The mouth-watering menu will boast all-day casual dining options that includes delicious desserts. Offering a variety of refreshing drinks, such as a soda float served in a pink convertible will provide a perfect sip-and-snap moment.

Upstairs, the Ken Kabana will serve up creative cocktails with each crafted to capture the carefree spirit of 1970s Malibu, evoking the golden summer days when Malibu Barbie™ was first introduced to the world.

This level also features the groovy Malibu Barbie Café x Impala skate rink, where guests can roller skate to upbeat tunes surrounded by palm trees and vibrant murals.

The Malibu Barbie Café also includes exclusive limited-edition merchandise and interactive activities, giving fans plenty to explore between trips around the rink. From a life-sized Barbie doll box to a History of Beach installation showcasing the Barbie brand’s evolution through the decades, every moment is designed to create a fun and immersive experience inspired by the beachside energy of 1970s Malibu.

The Malibu Barbie Cafe has captivated guests in New York, Chicago, Minneapolis, Miami, Austin, and Houston. Now Aussie fans finally get to indulge in the ultimate Barbie-inspired day out – marking its first international appearance outside the US.

The immersive market-first experience is expected to open to great fanfare and reflects Chadstone’s commitment to providing world-class experiences as a cultural epicentre 20-minutes from Melbourne.

Inspired by the world’s most iconic fashion doll, the Malibu Barbie Café’s Australian debut will take up residency in The Social Quarter at Chadstone from June through Summer 2026.
