Collider welcomes directing duo TWIN back to Australia

Collider has welcomed Jonathan and Josh Baker, the creative powerhouse known as TWIN. Think of them as a cinematic tag team of big ideas, big visuals, grounded performances and a pinch of quirky chaos thrown in for good measure.

The Sydney-born brothers headed to the US early in their directing career where they crafted high-concept campaigns for some of the world’s biggest brands. Their ability to blend style, story, and spectacle has made them a go-to directing duo, bringing their next-level energy and cool to brands like Nike, Google, Samsung, Honda and Heineken.

Another string is their extensive VFX backgrounds, fusing their technical know-how with character-driven storytelling, crafting impeccably cinematic and unforgettable work across multiple genres.

Their debut feature film KIN (2018) produced by Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps and starring Jack Reynor, Zoë Kravitz, Dennis Quaid, and James Franco, was based off their acclaimed short film BAG MAN, cementing the brother’s place as storytellers who think big.

Their latest short film, Triple XL, is exactly what you’d expect from a duo who loves surprising their viewers – three desert hikers take potent hard-boiled hallucinogens and transform into giant, naked versions of themselves. Is it weird? Perhaps. Is it brilliant? Undeniably.

Collider’s managing partner and EP Rachael Ford-Davies sums it up best: “Jonathan & Josh are the kind of directors who take a script and turn it into something you never saw coming, but then somehow, it’s exactly what it should be and more. We couldn’t be more excited to have them back working in Australia.”

TWIN says: “We’ve always been inspired by Collider’s artful approach to filmmaking, combining an elevated taste with commercial reach, so teaming up with such a talented and genuinely great group of humans feels like a natural fit. We’re looking forward to focussing on creating some incredible work together in Australia and New Zealand.”
