PR Shed launches 2025 Days & Events Calendar: Essential for anyone in marketing, PR and social
PR Shed has today unveiled its essential ‘Days and Events Calendar’ for 2025. Useful to anyone in-house or agency-side in PR, marketing, social or events – it’s a go-to guide of more than two thousand events that can be used for newsjacking, campaign ideas, content prompts, and to avoid scheduling clashes.
Featuring weird and wonderful awareness days, monthly observances, red carpet events, festivals, sports fixtures, anniversaries, milestone birthdays, astronomical happenings, major film and TV releases, political events and judicial inquiries – the calendar is an unparalleled resource with a strong Australian focus as well as global highlights.
Says Celia Harding, Founder of PR Shed: “In the attention economy, knowing what’s going to get people talking is half the battle. Our calendar keeps you plugged into the cultural zeitgeist, enabling you to craft timely, relevant campaigns and content that resonates.”
What’s Trending in 2025
From high-profile political moments to quirky anniversaries, the calendar is brimming with opportunities ripe for creative inspiration. Highlights include:
• Donald Trump’s Inauguration – Jan 20
• Pesto the Penguin’s 1st Birthday – Jan 30
• Bridget Jones Mad About the Boy film release – Feb 13
• David Beckham’s 50th Birthday – May 2
• World Entrepreneurs Day – Aug 21
• Total Lunar Eclipse – Sep 7
• International Equal Pay Day – Sep 18
• Kris Jenner’s 70th Birthday – Nov 5
• Singles Day (major Chinese e-commerce phenomenon) – November 11
In an era of tight marketing budgets, shrinking newsrooms, and soaring content demands, the Days & Events calendar is a lifeline for staying ahead. It’s a comprehensive, filterable resource that empowers businesses of any size to strategically plan campaigns, raise their profile, and remain relevant in a fast-paced media landscape.
As TikTok dominates search habits and LinkedIn becomes a personal branding powerhouse, algorithms favour those who leverage timely, topical content. The key isn’t just showing up—it’s showing up adding value, offering insight, entertainment, or an alternative perspective.
New research from WARC and TikTok shows that brands that pursue personal and cultural relevance can unlock new opportunities for growth:
• 78% of social and video platform users surveyed said their purchase likelihood would increase if ads were personally relevant; 56% felt the same if an ad was culturally relevant.
• 71% of users surveyed agreed they are more likely to pay attention when ads are personally relevant, while 58% do when ads are culturally relevant.
• Two-thirds (67%) of all respondents said content is culturally relevant if it updates them on trending topics, while 62% said it is if it showcases topics or issues happening in the moment.
Looking ahead, 2025 is a chance for the PR industry to reflect, evolve, and address long-standing challenges and opportunities.
Adds Harding (pictured above): “In 2025, I’d love to see the PR landscape working more collaboratively together to do a better job of managing the industry’s reputation at large. Too many brands, marketers and founders simply don’t understand what it is and are missing out on simple ways to publicise what they do because the practice has historically been shrouded in mystery.
“I’d also like to see the PR industry work smarter, not harder. This is an invitation to collaborate and innovate—from embracing AI to addressing overservicing, burnout, and the loss of top-notch talent leaving the field. There’s enormous potential for collective growth that can benefit businesses across Australia and beyond.”
