Melbourne-based branding and digital agency Self-titled celebrates ten years
This year marked a decade since award-winning Melbourne-based branding and digital agency Self-titled first opened their doors.
100% independently owned and run by co-founders and creative directors Jake Smallman and Paul Monkivitch, the agency creates identities, communications and digital tools for brands in a broad range of sectors. Clients include Visit Victoria, PeopleIN, Experience Co, Pronto Software, MAB, Computershare and Abercrombys Real Estate.
To acknowledge the milestone, an exhibition event was held at a South Yarra gallery space. Titled Self-relection, the exhibition celebrated the journey of the last ten years and provided a reflection on what the agency has learnt along the way. Showcased across large digital screens, the exhibition featured a project from each of the last ten years. Not intended as their favourite work, rather these were ten projects which featured a learning, milestone or reference point which has helped shaped the way Self-titled think about design.
Says Smallman: “Traditionally brand work has been quite project based, so it was nice to reflect on 10 years and note there are many clients that are ongoing relationships since very early days. Because the work is simple and not trend-driven, the projects presented in the exhibition still hold up today.”
Says Monkivitch: “The learnings gained over the last ten years have been invaluable and very much helped shape where Self-titled is today. With a strong push towards digital channels we are just as excited about current and future opportunities and where these can also help take the studio in years to come.”
