ANZ makes every daffodil count for Cancer Society in new campaign via TBWA\New Zealand

For ANZ’s 35th year of supporting Cancer Society, TBWA\NZ is helping shine a light on the faces, stories and support behind the iconic daffodil.

Every August 30th, people around the country buy a daffodil to raise money for Cancer Society, but not many of us know what’s really behind it. So this year, TBWANZ are helping put a face to the cause by highlighting just what the symbol means to a range of Kiwi, from survivors to fundraisers.

Working with photographer Sascha Stejko, the campaign puts the spotlight on four supporters of the cause who are linked to ANZ — two staff members and two sports ambassadors – Daryl Mitchell and Maia Wilson. Each supporter is showcased through portraiture along with short videos talking to each of their unique stories, and their connection with the daffodil.

Says Shane Bradnick, CCO of TBWANZ: “The daffodil serves as a powerful emblem of hope and resilience in the fight against cancer. When you wear one, you have no idea how much it means to someone who sees you with it. This campaign is a powerful reminder of what the daffodil means to New Zealand.”

Says Matthew Pickering, general manager of marketing, ANZ: “We’re proud to bring together ANZ staff members and elite athletes from our netball and cricket sponsorships for this campaign. Unfortunately, 1 in 3 Kiwis are affected by cancer. By the same measure, it would be great to see at least 1 in 3 of us make a difference with the simple act of wearing a daffodil and supporting the Cancer Society.”

Don’t forget to show your support by wearing a daffodil this Friday August 30th and donating here
