Joel Kefali directs new ‘Dream Maker’ film for Pedigree GoodPoints’ global launch via Colenso
Pedigree and Colenso BBDO have launched Pedigree GoodPoints, an innovative initiative that aims to help even more shelter dogs find their forever homes.
Pedigree GoodPoints is the next step in the brand’s 20-year commitment to ending dog homelessness. Now, anytime dog owners buy a Pedigree product, they will earn points that can be donated to helping shelter dogs in need. Every point donated gets shelter dogs one step closer to finding their dream home, turning every pet parent into a Dream Maker.
This powerful message was turned into a heartwarming film by director Joel Kefali and Good Oil. The star of the commercial is a Schnauzer Jack Russell x New Zealand Heading Dog called Winnie. Winnie was adopted from a shelter three years ago.
Says Simon Vicars, chief creative officer, Colenso BBDO: “Lots of kids dream of getting a dog. We thought it would be powerful to show the other side of that story. While we dream of a life with a dog, a shelter dog dreams of a life with us.”
Says Kefali: “Working with the team at Colenso and my very talented crew to realize Dream Maker was a privilege. The old adage ‘never work with children and animals’ definitely doesn’t ring true this time.”
Dream Maker has launched in Mexico and will roll out globally.

Beautiful work. Congrats to all involved. I’m definitely a big softie when it comes to dogs, so I’m going to love showing this to my six-year-old son.
Phwoar. This is going to make people cry. Beautiful stuff.
Total tear jerker
JK strikes again, love his work, always oozes emotion and humanity – beautiful.
To cry at my desk today.
But this is like the fourth pedigree adoption campaign from Colenso in one year.
I like the intention but the desperation to win awards is showing and they are starting to compete with themselves – there’s Meowzer, the AI thing, this and I’m sure I saw something else.
Weird.
That got me. Very, very good. NZ film has been quiet for a while. Hat tip, Colenso.
In the hands of a different director that could have been ok. But that was so good. Great line at the end. Punched me right in the heart
I genuinely love this
That one got a double watch. Nicely done.
Great stuff Joel, well done
Absolute perfection
