MERV director Daniel Fenech premieres ‘The Blind Sea’ to full house at the Sydney Film Festival

This week MERV’s director Daniel Fenech premiered his feature documentary The Blind Sea to a full house at the Sydney Film Festival.

The film masterfully tells a story of a 3 x World Champion Para Surfer Matt Formston, who confronts an awe-inspiring challenge of surfing the biggest wave ever tackled by a blind surfer – at Nazare, Portugal no less, supported by his friend and big-wave legend Dylan Longbottom, who was also at the premiere.

Another special guest at the event and in the film was Layne Beachley AO, who in the film wore special blind goggles to recreate Matt’s 3% vision and surfed the waves of the Sydney shoreline in order to share Matt’s experience.
