Gatorade unveils Dan Gorringe’s new role as AFL chief hydration officer in new series via Chisel

Indie sports specialist creative production house Chisel have created a comedy series featuring ex-AFL player turned internet personality and podcaster Dan Gorringe in his breakout role as Gatorade’s chief hydration officer to the AFL.

Directed by Emily Mays, Gorringe guides AFL athletes on helping to stay hydrated and how to deal with success by perfecting the art of the dunk and the Gatorade shower. Featuring AFL superstars from Carlton, GWS and North Melbourne the series is entertaining footy fans nationwide already hitting almost 2 million organic views in the first week.

Says Brad Fisher, brand manager, Gatorade: “Building on last year’s AFL partnership launch, Chisel’s idea to introduce a custodian of the Gatorade cooler, a chief hydration officer who can democratise the science of helping athletes with hydration while entertaining and educating audiences via social channels in a fresh new way just made sense.”

Says Zak Kaczmarek, co-founder, Chisel: “This was an idea our team had been kicking around for over a year or so, and it was Brad and their agency partners Akcelo and The Gifted Group who really got us excited about it when they presented the growingly popular and highly talented podcast and social media star Dan Gorringe as our new chief. In what was a true collaboration between all parties, we hope this series of content can continue to entertain AFL fans as a truly integrated approach to the way Gatorade interacts and shows up for the fans.”

Chisel’s in-house film director Emily Mays directed the series on location at AFL clubs in Melbourne and Western Sydney.

Says Mays: “It was a lot of fun on set working with Dan. From the get go he knew how to create that trust with the players and was able to build out our scripts with improvised and hilarious moments, full of AFL nuance and jokes only fans would get. We think we’ve created some truly authentic, refreshing and funny content that will get Gatorade’s messaging across on social channels in a non-traditional way.”
