BINGE launches ‘Scene:Scents’, a BINGE Sensory Entertainment Innovation via Thinkerbell
To accompany the premium experience of watching a BINGE Original, Thinkerbell has launched ‘Scene:Scents’, carefully designed to complement every moment of Aussies’ favourite shows.
Released as box sets to accompany Colin From Accounts, Strife and The Twelve, each set of candles is matched to individual scenes from each show.
The layered candles are delicately constructed with a range of scents, and meticulously timed to release as viewers watch.
For example the Colin From Accounts candles, have been designed to help embed viewers into Ashley and Gordon’s world (for better or worse), with scent notes of Aussie Suburbia, Eucalyptus, The Vet’s Office, A Bachelor’s Apartment, The Back Room Of A Brewery and even Dog Pee.
Says Fiona King, marketing director, BINGE: “The Scene:Scents candles are a game changer for entertainment buffs, enhancing home viewing with scents that bring iconic TV moments to life. Fans are able to experience the hilariously meet-cute from Colin From Accounts in all its messy, funny glory, complete with vet smells and dog pee – yes, really!
Says Tom Wenborn, executive creative tinker, Thinkerbell: “Candles that smell like obscure things aren’t new. But candles that smell like individual scenes from your favourite shows, precisely layered around a wick that has been produced to burn at an exact speed is kind of fun. While BINGE continues to raise the bar in entertainment quality, initiatives like Scene:Scents aim to revolutionise the way you experience watching.”

That’s lovely if it works
Yeah thats cool
This is pure alchemy.
A coming together of sense and scents.
Can I get it one sent to me green and pink, plz?
This makes up for the all the reactive OOH.
Onya gents, great to see it come to fruition.
Nico x
Beautiful idea. Beautiful execution. Congrats to all involved
I like this. Fun idea.
Cool idea, done well.

This idea has been done several times, and quite recently. Surely there’s smart people at TB who know this? They have to. So then the only logical conclusion is that they just don’t care about originality, or that they believe their version is different enough, which it’s not.
Missed opportunity to call it smellevison
This is lovely and novel and would be genuinely interesting to try. It’s just in time for awards too.
Are Nice one. Nic from Nic + Ben fame and Nico the same person …? Hmmmm …
It feel like I’ve seen this a few times before.
we’re still making them in 2024? really?
Bloody awesome. Hats off TKB and Binge client.
Lovely idea and very well put together. Be proud!
A gimmick is a gimmick ….
Cool, but there’s nothing on the Binge IG and the link is a 404…
That’s lovely if it works, like, even a little.

Many times
Where – I’ve never seen this done before and love it please back up your statement
There’s a few links right here in the comment section for you
It’s always tricky when ad people try to tell a real story *hides behind the photocopier.
Beautiful idea and the execution is marvelous

That’s a really fun idea and I like the insight that it’s making the viewing experience deeper. Well done to the designers too it looks clean
This feels rushed. Where’s the craft? Cool idea, but poorly executed. Nothing on insta. Link doesn’t work. Smells like smoke for a chance at an award.
The posters are a nice add on
Oh wow, that’s exactly the same thing
But it was done better for Netflix 8 years ago. Do creatives not google and check their ideas anymore?
We called ours Binge Candles…
Go on give us a whiff! Nice one lads. SM
I dunno. Does any normal person care?
Another article on here right now about people’s favourite TV ads. Pretty easy for people to answer that question.
If we did a study asking for people’s favourite “immersive experience” would anyone without their head up this industry’s clacker be able to name one?
Yeah, innovation is cool and all that. But that’s not the job. The job is selling. Far out I feel old. An innovative idea or use of media or whatever that sells? Sign me up. But an innovation that’s purely for the book? Go do something that’s actually artistic and interesting. This ain’t.
May have been done before, but I’d argue it’s never been done this well.
@doitbetter yes agree it’s done better, but that doesn’t excuse it being unoriginal. Otherwise we could say we do a mouldy Big Mac, but do it better.
