Photoplay | Playtime’s Gracie Otto is the most nominated director for this year’s Australian Directors’ Guild (ADG) Awards, which will be held December 5 at The Grand Electric in Sydney’s Surry Hills.
Otto is up against some very established directors for the top prize – Best Direction in a Feature Film (Budget $1M or over) – with her debut feature Seriously Red.
Otto is also nominated twice for Best Direction in a TV / Streamer Drama Series for her work across both Heartbreak High and Deadloch, and is also up for Best Direction of Commercial Content for Zimmermann Fall ’22 – Stargazer.
Otto was the original set up director on both Seasons 1 & 2 of Heartbreak High which also recently picked up a 2023 International Emmy Award. Other recent top television series director credits include The Other Guy (Stan), Bump (Stan), the Clearing (Disney+) and most recently The Artful Dodger (Disney+) which is launching this week in Australia.
As well as making splashes around the world with her TV series and her feature dramas and documentaries, Otto has developed an impressive slate of commercial work, where she is known for both fashion vibes and rich comedy performances, with extensive experience working with A-list celebrities.
Otto is available for commercial work from mid January 2024 onwards once her latest TV series is delivered.
