Lion summons Aussie beer drinkers for brewery duty in latest campaign via Thinkerbell
Leading beverage company Lion has summoned Australian beer drinkers for Brewery Duty in a new initiative with independent creative agency Thinkerbell.
Together, Lion and Thinkerbell have used Australians’ familiarity with jury duty to create a simple idea enlisting regular Aussies to trial beer. Brewery Duty allows Australians to join a tasting panel, sample beer and invite them in on the beer creation and production process.
Says Adam Ferrier, chief thinker and founder, Thinkerbell: “From Jury Duty to Sunday dinner at the in-laws – some duties are unavoidable but universally understood. The beauty of this idea is that it uses the familiarity of Jury Duty to follow a ‘trial’ process that involves tasting and delivering a verdict on beer. There’s always a new case to crack, and a new beer on trial which provides an ongoing opportunity to facilitate engagement in an interactive way for consumers, and enable us to learn about what Australians like to drink.”
Says Ed Stening, connections director, Lion: “We see this idea as a long running program for Lion. It gives us a chance to have direct conversations with Australians and find out what they do and don’t want. This will help us keep delivering new and popular beers to the ever changing Australian taste buds.”
To help launch Brewery Duty, Lion has teamed up with Aussie comedian, radio and TV presenter Merrick Watts to summon the nation’s beer drinkers to register for brewery duty in the name of bettering Australian beer.
Brewery Duty is supported by a multi-channel national campaign running across all sorts of weird and wonderful channels. Aussies can sign up for Brewery Duty anytime from the 9 December 2022 at breweryduty.com

Brewery duty! you’re geniuses
Someone make it stop
They’re smashing out the ads before Christmas!
Random
You geniuses god damn did it!
YAWN….
Sorry….they should be convicted for crimes against puns
This is interesting. The creative is good, but in a world without cookies, the fact that Lion is investing in this is clever.
Love the line! Don’t love the execution
I honestly get secondhand embarrassment every time I see Thinkerbell work pop up on CB.
… and that’s Ok.
Adland is mostly staffed by morons.
Says it all
This is a chart where creatives rank other creative agencies work – on a weekly basis. Don’t get embarrassed maybe just try a little harder to understand.

I think this thinkerbell 1000th trade pr releases this month?! Glad to see the pr team put to good work!
It’s an outstanding output that is worth celebrating. However 24 participation ribbons don’t equal a gold.
Notice how no one says the same thing about The Monkeys, who have also PR’d a shitload in the last few weeks. The anti-Thinkerbell bias in these comments is wild
I wont say it is bad. And we know the beer bar isnt set really high at the moment. It isnt like CUB are doing any great work, yesterday i saw Carlton Dry role out copy that was player over 3 or 4years ago. What a snooze fest. Talk about lazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Or maybe the creative fire has gone out.
Pr. Well i cant recall much work from VB beyond the perfume launch and price rises. So take ya pot shots at Tinkerbell but they are rolling out some solid work.
Good job Lion. Bring me d beer
It’s not a beer ad, it’s an ad to join a mass focus group that they’ve somehow managed to make pretty irresistible.
