Create Crowd is creating waves

There’s an up and coming ‘it’ crowd in town, housing a crew of creative freelancers and small businesses. Animators, designers, copywriters, editors, film crew, creatives and more. And it goes by the name of Create Crowd. The Adelaide-based start-up, led by creative powerhouse Amy Marshall (pictured above), has been modestly introducing creative freelancers, film/TV crew and small businesses to agencies and production houses for the past 6-8 months, with stellar results.

As a firm fixture in the creative industry – Marshall’s impressive 18-year resume includes working as a studio manager and in production at a slew of iconic creative agencies from the likes of Clemenger BBDO, BMF, Y&R & Showpony Adelaide – it was only natural the creative allrounder turned her hand to championing creatives after her 8-year stint as an agency producer.

Says Marshall: “I loved the incredible range of people I got to work with project to project. Every time there was a new job, it required different skills and passions. Finding the people and businesses to make these jobs come to life and have the best possible result is what I loved.”

But after replying on an archaic directory for too long, Marshall decided it was time for a spruce up of the standard old school creative ‘directory’. Which led her to create something she wished existed – a unique listing website with ample value for the strong community of creatives and agencies listed.

Cue: Create Crowd, where the listings are built upon the high level of curation via categories, ongoing evolution, and creative support from Marshall, like the Creative Lowdown newsletter.

Says Marshall: “The Creative Lowdown goes out to 350+ industry subscribers with freelancers featured for agencies and production houses to contact directly. This is where the magic happens. The newsletter highlights new additions to Create Crowd, special skills and general listings.”

Create Crowd will play a significant role in spring boarding the success and growth of many creative freelancers across Australia and is already picking up the pace nationally.

In keeping with Create Crowd’s commitment to keeping things fresh, an app has just launched, with a save for later feature for favourites, quick category searches, and an opportunity for creatives temporarily hide their profile when booked.

Says Marshall: “The app version is now available on the App Store and Google Play! So it’s even easier to be able to look up a category, view profiles and save a list of favourites for contacting directly later. We have resources available for freelancers and producers too, plus more coming. I want to make it easy for people to build their own database from Create Crowd, because a big network is a valuable network.”
