Photoplay Photography nabs two more top talent: photographer Mia Mala McDonald and senior producer Amanda Moore
Photoplay Photography has announced two additions to the team; photographer Mia Mala McDonald, who brings a vivid perspective of modern Australia to the roster, and senior producer Amanda Moore.
Mia Mala has a background in editorial and portraiture photography — her renegade style and wit is evident in every image she captures. Mia Mala’s ability to connect with people puts the toughest subjects at ease and she fuses this candid intimacy with her unique perspective. This skill has been sought after by clients as diverse as Chunky Move, RACV, Victoria Tourism, Melbourne University, Virgin Atlantic, Australian Olympic Committee, Ansell, and the ABC.
Mia Mala’s impressive list of publications includes the New York Times, The Monthly and Elle Magazine UK. Her celebrity portfolio includes subjects such as Courtney Barnett, Bill Henson, and Heston Blumenthal to name a few. In 2021, Mia Mala won the Martin Kantor Portrait Prize, and she has been a finalist in The National Photographic Portrait prize, Olive Cotton Award, the Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize. She is currently shortlisted in the Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Photography Award.
In November 2022 Mia Mala will publish her highly anticipated book, Once in a Lullaby: a portrait of Australia rainbow families through M.33 publishers and distributed internationally by Perimeter books. This project, shot from the perspective of a rainbow family member herself, offers a brave new vision of what it means to be family in Australia today.
