Guinness is issuing a timely reminder for Aussies to set their Out of Office on Thursday for St Patrick’s Day in a new campaign via Thinkerbell.
The posters, social and digital artwork continue the long running minimalist Guinness campaign with a Zoom generation twist.
Says Ed Stening, connections director at Lion: “St Patrick’s Day is the ultimate moment to come together with a pint of Guinness, and after the last 3 years of Covid interruptions, we’ve never been more excited to turn on the Out of Office and get into a pub for the day.”
Says Tom Wenborn, executive creative tinker, at Thinkerbell: “I’m currently OOO enjoying a pint of Guinness, I’ll be back at my desk Friday 18th March. Please contact Jim Ingram if it’s urgent.”

Deas. I’ve always enjoyed Guinness’s print ads.
Wouldn’t you want the next day off?
Fuck its good to see something clean and clever and not reinventing the wheel.
(To the tune of O’Fortuna, as per the Carlton Draught big ad, part of an ongoing brand platform)
It’s a one off!
Clever one off
Thinkerbell hopes it will win…
Met-al!
Maybe it will!
Maybe it will!
Might as well have come from… Dubai!
More of this please. Simple print ideas aren’t dead they’re just rarely briefed in.
A little way off the classic Guiness print ads of old, but at least they’re simple.
What is the zoom generation twist?
Jaysus…..If you know anything about St Patrick’s day, which clearly you don’t, then you would know the day is the day is the day that you celebrate.
Also, can’t see Guinness putting something out about being OOO the next day, implying you’re hungover and suggesting you may have been excessively drinking the day before. No responsible alcoholic brand or retailer would be stupid enough to with all the codes they have to follow these days, nor should they.
Please next time, just say nothing or at least engage first gear in your brain before putting forward an opinion, although I doubt that’s going to help.
Slianté (Irish for cheers, before you try and call out my spelling).
It’s Sláinte but ok
The white bit is too boxy and has too much text in it, just looks like a white pop up on a black page, noone will get this, who reads papers anyway…blah blah blah
Jokes – its aight
Apologies, previous comment directed at @jc was directed at @eh?
There’s so much going on in the white box it took me a while to work out it’s meant to be a visual pun. That’s not how these ads work.
Oh its meant to look like a beer head? Oh didn’t get that at all, and I’ve seen all their old ads. No normal person would get that.
Not enough Aussies get around Paddy’s Day. They love to pretend they’re a nation of drinkers but given a free day to get on it they won’t. Lovely ad I’m glad someone is still supporting the day over here.
I was just a joke mate. I forgot how much you Irish love a good argy-bargy.
The execution is very Thinkerbell.
Yes agree. All it needs is the date and OOO, and let the reader work it out. Smarter ad. But we live in an age where we have to hit the audience over the head with what we’re saying.
You have to admire Thinkerbell. They get shit out. PR the shit out of it. But is the work any good or is it sh*t?
In this case? Very much the later
