Australian directorial darling Emma Freeman joins the team at Taxi Film Production

In celebration of International Women’s Day this week, Taxi Film Production is absolutely delighted to announce that highly regarded and universally adored director, Emma Freeman is joining the Taxi Film Production family, with her recent signing to its roster for full commercial representation in Australia and abroad.
Freeman is the understated directorial darling of Australian drama, with many iconic credits to her name including Secret City, The Newsreader, Stateless, Tangle, and more recently Binge’s critically acclaimed, Love Me. Known for her deft ability to extract authentic performances from her actors, Freeman’s list of accolades and awards is endless, with notable mentions of Australian Director’s Guild Awards (ADG) and Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA) for Direction and winning 1st prize at Tropfest back in 2002.
No stranger to the world of commercial production, Freeman cut her teeth on TVCs before turning her focus to the longform world. Freeman’s significant drama background, coupled with her experience in working with A-list talent will see her looking for narrative driven scripts that allow her to combine these skillsets. Bringing her trademark worth ethic and loveable nature, Freeman will also act as a natural mentor to Taxi’s growing stable of amazing women directorial talent.
Freeman’s appointment comes as Taxi has bolstered its overall director offering this month, with recent addition of comedy specialist Matt Kamen for representation in the Queensland market. Kamen brings his entertaining style to telling character driven stories infused with his unique sense of fun and humour whilst maintaining an overall cinematic scope to his work.

Awarded as one of the nine best comedy directors in the world by Source Creative, Melbourne based Kamen will be looking forward to visiting his parents and checking out some of the iconic surf breaks in the Sunshine State when he ventures up for the right script.
Says Taxi: “Happy International Women’s Day to all the amazing females out there and a warm welcome to Emma and Matt, we’re bloody stoked to have you join Team Taxi.”
