Free the Work Australia to launch CAN YOU SEE ME? workshop in partnership with Australian Director’s Guild on Sat, June 5
Free the Work Australia is set to launch CAN YOU SEE ME ?, a one day workshop in Sydney for female and non-binary directors on Saturday, 5th June 2021. The workshop is also available online through Zoom.
This one day workshop will focus on creating strategies, tools and networking opportunities to be able to create a visible and successful career in the competitive commercial landscape.
The first part of the workshop will focus on creating your clear identity and voice as a director. The final half of the workshop will include production focussed solutions, a “speed dating session” for freelance producers and directors, and we will wrap up with an impressive showcase of your work to over 30 production and advertising agencies. Everything learned throughout this workshop is aimed to give you the kick start you need in the industry.

PART ONE
Who am I ?
A life changing session in which we explore your business as a director and what YOU are uniquely selling to an already crowded industry. How can you cut through the noise? Working with your own personal brand across everything you do is essential. During this talk, you’ll get the inside scoop on a strategic, three-step brand storytelling process – invented and used by a designer-turned-director with businesses, organisations and creators for over 15+ years. By the end of this session, you’ll be diving into the first step for yourself and your body of work.
PART TWO
What do I do ?
Marketing is one of the most despised and intimidating aspects of running a creative business, but this needn’t be the case! In this workshop, we’ll explore the strategy behind purposeful marketing, how to figure out who your audience is, and how to leverage your personal and professional brand to meet your goals.

If you are just starting out in the industry, or freelance and not signed to a production company, when you land a job it can be daunting to manage this process alone. We will work with Short Term Girlfriend to come up with production solutions to suit your needs.
