FINCH’s new documentary ‘Girls Can’t Surf’ in cinemas tomorrow March 11

Directed by Christopher Nelius (Storm Surfers 3D, Tough Conversations) and co-written with Julie-Anne de Ruvo, Girl’s Can’t Surf is the inspiring true story of how a ragtag bunch of punk girls broke loose to turn women’s surfing into the equal-pay, multi-billion-dollar industry it is today.
Featuring surfing greats Jodie Cooper, Frieda Zamba, Pauline Menczer, Lisa Andersen, Pam Burridge, Wendy Botha, Layne Beachley and more, the film is a wild ride of clashing personalities, sexism, adventure and heartbreak. Girl’s Can’t Surf tells the story of how they fought against the odds to make their mark on the male-dominated surfing world, and in the process changed it forever.
Says Rob Galluzzo, CEO, FINCH: “The team has made a wonderful film that will transcend the screen and have a positive impact on culture.”
Says director Christopher Nelius: “I’m so excited for the film to come out and for a wide audience to finally hear these women voice their story. You don’t need to surf to be inspired by their mettle.”
Girl’s Can’t Surf is a FINCH and Pursekey Production. Produced by Michaela Perske of Pursekey Productions and Christopher Nelius, executive produced by Rob Galluzzo and Michael Hilliard of FINCH, and Paul Wiegard of Madman Entertainment with Ghislaine Couvillat from Whipped Sea acting as a co-producer.
Girls Can’t Surf is being released in cinemas across Australia tomorrow by Madman Films, watch the trailer for the film here.
