Vale master editor Michael Beauman: “Loud and outrageous, an amazing editor with a big heart.”

Award-winning editor Michael Beauman sadly passed away last night after a long illness. Known as Mikey to some, Tex to others, Beauman was one of Sydney’s best editors, up there with the very best, and before him his dad Nick Beauman, who worked on many award-winning Aussie movies after his time in advertising.
Beauman was principal of Picture This Film Company, which edited a string of award-winning commercials over the years (including Nike ‘Roo Boy’ from 1998) for many of the best directors in Australia, including Adam Stevens at Silverscreen, Alan White at @radical.media, Terry Bunton and Jonathon Teplitzy at Bunton Films, and Ron Mather at MatherGodsell.
Long-time friend, director Greg Desmond (pictured below, centre, with Beauman, left), told CB: “Mikey was The Campaign Palace’s favourite editor … When he arrived on the scene he was loud and outrageous, loud music, smoked like a chimney and loved a drink, but an amazing editor with a big heart. We all loved Mikey….”

So many laughs, great memories, he had the ability of knowing exactly what creatives wanted before they even entered the edit suite. A funny, creative, musical, intuitive and sensitive guy with a full and interesting back story. I’m so sorry for the families loss, especially at this exceptional time. RIP Michael. Oh Mikey. So many laughs and memories. The white socks, your editing talent, your ability to pick just the right piece of music, your entertaining stories, your green thumb, your love of all things retro, your unique sense of style, your uncountable collection of black jackets, the black jeeps, the “Aegean” blue Range Rover, the cattle dogs, the chillis …but mostly your genuine love of friends, family and life. Rest In Peace.

Sorry to of micheals passing n condolences to his family if I have the same Micheal Beuman me n my best friend Micheal P worked along side Micheal B back in early 1980’s at Colorfilm was located at missenden rd Camperdown in sydney can u let me know if this is micheal Beauman I once worked with

I’l shocked to hear the news so long after Michael passed away (I’m overseas).
I’m afraid it is the same dear Michael. I was there too, in Colorfilm, very briefly and that’s where I met Michael. He was a Darling. RIP Dear Michael.
