Says Cam Blackley, chair of AWARD: “This year’s jury are ‘guinea pigs’ as we change to a live judging format for the 41st AWARD Awards. Smaller, more balanced juries made up of the industry’s leading minds (from here and abroad) are absolutely critical for us to raise the bar. This year Chairs also will play a vital role in determining the best of the best on the final day. We fully acknowledge being a juror involves many intense hours of work, so even before judging has started we want to thank all of them in advance for agreeing to play extraordinary roles in what is set to be the biggest and best show in the history of the AWARD Awards.
“I’d also like to thank all those who nominated to judge this year. We had an overwhelming response to our call out, and while we couldn’t include everyone we already have our eye on line ups for AWARD in 2021.”
The AWARD Awards ceremony will take place on Friday, 27 March 2020 at The Venue, Alexandria as part of the three-day festival that will incorporate the awards judging.

Can’t wait for the 90+ uploads of humbleness from the jury.
That’s one hell of a coup Cam. Goodby, Uglow etc.
Awesome.
What’s quite telling this year is all the judges who are listed as freelance. Industry’s not in a great place
yet very few Kiwis…
A category called ‘Culture’? And ‘Life changing’
Are we disappearing up our own orifices?
Can someone please explain why being a juror is something people like to crow about so much?
Imo
The industry press is full of press releases about how this person or that person are going to judging some awards show and it’s back slaps all round.
How is that an achievement? It’s just some industry bod tapping some of their industry bod mates on the shoulder and asking them to judge something.
Winning something is an achievement, judging who the winner should be is sweet fa.
Wow ….. great list of judges!
More judges than entries me thinks…
Because it’s interesting to hear about, and in the vast majority of cases it’s a recognition of the person’s contributions and achievements during their career to date.
Geez, good luck getting awarded with that level of experience to impress. It’s like a mini Cannes.
@why seriously?!?! Do you really need an answer to your pathetic question?
1. They don’t get paid.
2. It’s time consuming and sometimes quite stressful. It’s important they get it right.
3. Someone’s gotta do it. Why not get the absolute best in the business. And let’s celebrate (or at least acknowledge and thank them) for their time and dedication to the industry.
I guess you’ve never been asked to judge otherwise you would not be asking this dull question as you’ll know what a hard job it can be sifting through mountains of work trying to find the best of the best.
Don’t be such a twat.
There’s certain categories there where the jurors didn’t win anything themselves. How can you know award winning work if you haven’t produced it? On the other side of that I know some people who smashed it at awards, applied, and haven’t been selected to judge.
Mates backslapping each other indeed. No real concern for achievement.
Dah! You need judges to win something. Makes sense if you think about it, even for a nano-second.
Aren’t awards seriously elderly chapeaux nowadays? To me they seem like an anachronism from the 80s &90s when we were obsessed with them. Seeking personal glory for work that’s supposed to improve the fortunes of clients seems hopelessly egocentric and inappropriate now.
AWARD Award judges from Perth over the past 3 years. All very worthy but there are several other worthy candidates working in Perth for next year.

Try and get a big job without them. They’re still currency.
Ancient CD guy sounds like you’ve either had one too many setbacks, and or you’ve lost your mojo, maybe it’s time to award yourself retirement
Award jury duty is brilliant for many reasons: sitting in a room for two days with other talented creatives, debating the merits of a piece of work is wonderful for sharpening and flexing your creative muscles; you get to immerse yourself in excellent ideas, which rejuvenates tired creative souls; you get to network with likeminded humans who may become friends if you’re lucky; and it helps you to bring into focus what defines brilliant creativity right now. Of course people will post about it on social – not only is it great personal PR, which we all need, but for anyone who loves advertising, it’s fucking great fun.
Congrats, by the way, to AWARD on securing Mr. Goodby as Jury Chair. Super jealous of those lucky people who get to hear the inner workings of his brain for two days.
