Wavemaker’s Rebecca Drummond crowned Millennial of the Year at M&M Global Awards
Wavemaker Australia strategy director Rebecca Drummond was named Millennial of the Year at the annual M&M Global Awards 2019, announced in London.
The M&M Global Awards celebrate the best of international media and are part of the Festival of Media portfolio of events, which educate, inspire and celebrate excellence in advertising around the world.
Drummond was recently promoted to strategy director, and this year was a national finalist in the Cannes Young Lions competition along with her strategy partner, Marco Del Castillo. She sits on the GroupM nCo board, GroupM’s Young Leaders Committee, a cross-agency panel of emerging leaders tasked with finding innovative ways to enhance company culture.
Among her many achievements, Drummond has been instrumental in giving time and expertise to cancer charities, leveraging the industry to drive positive change for causes she is passionate about.
Says Peter Vogel, CEO, Wavemaker Australia & New Zealand: “Bec is an absolute star and it’s great to see her achievements recognised on the world stage. She puts an equal amount of passion into her work and personal life, which benefits everyone around her. Without a doubt, Bec represents the very best of the new type of talent that is emerging in our industry, and I can’t wait to see how her career develops over the coming years.”
Says Drummond: “It’s a huge honour to win a M&M Global Award for Millennial of the Year. I’m so lucky to be working in an industry that recognises and celebrates the work we produce in our 9 to 5, as well as the contributions we make beyond, in our 5 to 9. Thank you to my Wavemaker peers in Australia who empower and inspire me on a daily basis, and thank you to my Wavemaker London neighbours for picking up the silverware and celebrating on my behalf as I was waking up on the other side of the world.”
Wavemaker is part of GroupM, which is part of WPP AUNZ, Australasia’s leading creative transformation company.

Millennial of the year sounds like something Charlie Brooker or Chris Morris came up with. Who got ‘Boomer’ of the year?
Wow.
Amazing.
Millenial.
Huh?
What.
