VMLY&R Sydney ECD Bart Pawlak departs to start career as an independent creative consultant

VMLY&R Sydney has confirmed that executive creative director Bart Pawlak has left the business to launch a new independent creative consultancy venture Bart Pawlak Creative.
Paul Nagy, CCO ANZ, VMLY&R says he was sorry to see Pawlak leave however thanked him for his commitment to the agency and its clients and wished him all the very best for the future.
Pawlak announced the news on LinkedIn: “Saying goodbye sucks. But, after giving professional monogamy a red-hot crack for more than a decade, I’m unashamed to say that a particularly fervent form of promiscuity beckons.
“So, from today, I am launching as an independent creative consultant, offering creative solutions to business problems, integrated advertising campaigns, creative direction, creative strategy, copywriting, collaboration and infinite curiosity about your company, brand or brief.
“To the many clients and colleagues who contributed to the magnificence of my time at VMLY&R over the years, a sincere thanks. And, to the good friends I leave behind – Paul Nagy, Peter Bosilkovski, Katie Dally, Danny Lattouf, to name several – my very best wishes for the future.”
VMLY&R is currently reviewing its creative resources and will make an announcement about a new member of the creative team in due course.

Brilliant! All the best Bartosh.
Wishing you all the best Bart. You will kill it. Excellent use of Linked In too 🙂
Bart Hi, wonderful career path so far – hope the future is even more fruitful
thanks Bart you bloody legend!
Fantastic stuff Bart…
One of the best in the game. All the best Bart.
I’m always suspicious when people leave an agency to become a ‘consultant’. It usually means they got fired and they haven’t got a job to go to. I don’t know Bart, and I hope I’m wrong, but beneath the bonhomie I can’t shake the feeling that this, like so many similar announcements, is not what it seems.
Thanks for all the support, friends. And, that includes the dose of realism from the veteran freelancer. Absolutely right, of course. The objective of announcing my new endeavour on LinkedIn was to get work, rather than to announce that I already have it. And, while I wasn’t necessarily going for ‘bonhomie’, I am feeling pretty excited and positive. Peace and prosperity to you all. Bart
You’re saying what everybody knows, but you don’t serve anybody by saying it. I can’t believe I need to spell this out, but agencies are attempting to preserve the dignity of ex-employees by working out a positive story with them. Others may recognise or suspect the true story but at least have the good sense and respect not to call it out.
Well written response to the previous post. As was yours Bart. Very classy. All the best for the future. @many times, you can’t stomach bullshit? Well I can’t stomach pricks like you. Selfish twat.
Bartosh don’t fuel @many times a freelancer with a response. You don’t need anyone to preserve your dignity other than yourself – which you have done in spades. Onward into your next phase my friend.
Best of luck Bart – you inspired us at Y&R and you will go on to do great things in your next chapter
Apologies if I’ve got a few noses out of joint for stating the obvious. It’s just that I can’t stomach spin and bullshit (yes, ironic considering I worked in advertising for almost 30 years). There’s way too much of it in the world, and whether it’s politics, business, relationships or anything else, it needs to be called out. Hope it all works out for Bart.
