Infinity Squared launches Infinity2 Proxy; model to be implemented to all productions by 2021

In a move to firmly future proof itself in an evolving marketplace and in continuation of its challenger spirit, Infinity Squared has today launched Infinity2 ProxyTM. A proprietary model, currently in trial and which its plans to implement to all productions effective from 2021.

The strategy behind proxy is simple and one that complements a shift towards reduced production budgets industry wide on a global level. The model works by having ‘proxy directors’ attend set with ‘wearable directing technology’.

Says Dave Jansen, EP, Infinity Squared: “It allows us to be more competitive, projects will be more streamlined and profitable and we can operate at a higher capacity of projects at any one time.”

Under Proxy, no longer does a director need to attend pre-production meetings, castings or shoots in remote and exotic locations nor be required to have a physical presence during post production (an often lengthy and drawn out process). Instead, the entire production is orchestrated from the comfort of the directors home, office or even a local café.

“A brilliant strategy is certainly a matter of intelligence but intelligence without audaciousness is not enough” says Jansen, who continues “that was said by some chess player but it really resonated with me.”

With the Proxy’s being hand-picked from film schools under a graduate program, the concept also allows up and coming directing talent to get the vital on-set experience for career development, which can then not be called upon when they too move into directing by proxy.

Infinity Squared has a long history of challenging conventions, being one of the first companies to use a #tag.
