FREE this Wednesday at the Art Gallery of NSW: The Glue Society’s Jonathan Kneebone discusses the relationship between art and advertising
How has advertising changed since the golden age of the 1950s, when Andy Warhol designed ads for the Madison Avenue set? Is art and advertising closer than ever?
Ad man Jonathan Kneebone of creative collective The Glue Society discusses the curious relationship between art, ads and popular culture.
It’s part of the the Art Gallery’s ‘Art After Hours’ sessions – and is linked to the current exhibition: ‘ADMAN, Warhol before Pop’ which runs at the gallery until May 28.
Says Kneebone: “I am basically covering the relationship between art and advertising – discussing whether the relationship between the two has changed over time – and whether
the lines between the two have become more blurred.”

I once attended a DDB conference in Florence where Keith Reinhardt gave an outstanding presentation on this very subject. It was both informative and fascinating.
