The Lott launches a new way to play lotto with PicturePick app release via GPY&R, Brisbane
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Now it could be worth a million dollars, thanks to PicturePick, a new app developed by the Lott and GPY&R Brisbane.
PicturePick transforms your favourite photos into a set of numbers that can be played across a range of the Lott’s most popular lottery games.
Customers can take a photo, or choose one from the gallery on their phone. The PicturePick algorithm then scans the photo pixel-by-pixel, performing over 40,000 calculations to produce a unique set of playable lottery numbers.
Says Andrew Shepherd, head of demand generation for the Lott: “The launch of PicturePick is an exciting initiative allowing lottery players to turn their favourite photos into their favourite numbers. We’re excited by the prospect of offering new customers the ability to play Australia’s favourite lottery games in exciting new ways.”
Says Brendan Greaney, ECD, GPY&R Brisbane: “PicturePick is the first of its kind in the lottery space. Bringing it to market has been a true collaboration between the Lott team and the Y&R digital team.”
PicturePick is available for download via the App Store on 14 December for use within the Lott’s 4,500 retail outlets.

I don’t think Josh or Ash were even at the agency when this idea was presented.
Nice work Dave and Cam.
Nice work Bevo,
But it’s a nice gimmick.
An app that lets you turn a dick pick into a quick pick.
Truth be told, the algorithm really doesn’t matter. Could just have stuck a random number generator under the hood and everyone would have been happy. Maybe they did.
I like this. And I’m a tough fucking crowd.
This idea was presented 5 years back. Shame you haven’t credited the 3 creatives who actually came up with it
Cute
OK let’s say what needs to be said. This concept, its design and the process to make it work was really the output from one man. He’s not here anymore.
He knows who he is and we miss you mate.

…WHAT?

Then why credit other creatives? It comes across as a big middle finger to the team who came up with the idea. And from what I’ve heard, the man you’re talking about wasn’t even in the room when the concept was created.
GPY&R Brisbane are notorious for this type of behaviour.
Where are Cam and Dave’s names on that credits list??
Patts Brissy – You know I love you guys, and Josh and Ash are brilliant creatives in their own right, but everybody knows this wasn’t their idea. They might’ve worked on the final execution, but you should at least credit the team that actually came up with the idea. Let’s give it up for Cam and Dave! 🙂
Errrrrr….the concept was not from one man. It was from 3 creatives. Before it was shared and then became an app from one man. And look who’s trying to own it now
This team seems to get a lot of credit for other creative’s ideas.
Does any of this actually get results for the client? I feel like 90% of the stuff coming out of Y&R doesn’t get seen by anyone outside Campaign Brief and on some slick case study video. No hate, just an honest question.
So let me get this straight. The three creatives mentioned on this blog didn’t come up with this idea. And the guy who ‘apparently’ developed the concept, designed it and engineered the process to make it work wasn’t credited either. And why is this OK? That’s right. He’s not with ‘us’ anymore. So is this behaviour localised to GPY&R Brisbane or is it a systemic problem inherent in the Y&R network?
Dirty.
Suggest you all air it somewhere else, because this is a bit embarrassing to watch.
Would love to better understand the algorithm powering this. I’d like to believe it has more depth than a random number generator but the article doesn’t do a good job selling this.
Where’s Bevo’s name?
Seems Cam, Dave & Bevo got Rob’d
Since when does the industry credit people that leave the agency they worked for. Just read the site, it’s full of people moving and shaking around ad world.
Let me educate you on the difference between principals and principles. When you work at GPY&R the princiPALS (that’s the management), expect that you deliver proactive ideas (that’s work on top of what you already have to do on a day-to-day basis). Which is cool, that’s how you win awards these days. But when the princiPALS don’t recognise your efforts, especially when they’ve most likely profited from your idea, they’re acting without moral and ethical princiPLES. (See the difference?) Now you can palm it off by saying it’s ‘The Industry’, it has no princiPLES. But it must. Otherwise, the agency and its princiPALS wouldn’t be copping it for such a sh*t act.
Nice
