BP launches next phase of its ‘My BP Story’ campaign via Ogilvy & Mather New Zealand
Following the heart-string-tugging tale of Peter and the Rabbit in the 2015 BP brand campaign, the next iteration of ‘My BP Story’ via Ogilvy & Mather New Zealand continues to put everyday people at the centre of the creative approach.
This time Tom, a young lad struggling to get noticed by the object of his affection, Ginny, takes to the skies with the help of his inventive Grandfather in a bid to impress her.
A captivating tale of Kiwi ingenuity and the offerings of a typical BP, is a natural continuation of the strategy grounded in sharing people’s stories – the ones that happen out there on our Kiwi roads, with BP at the centre, the stage for these tales to take place.
Says Leigh Taylor, national marketing manager, BP: “We are proud to deliver the next iteration of ‘My BP Story,’ a platform that allows us to creatively showcase the role BP plays in the journeys of New Zealanders, from the everyday to the epic adventures.”
Says Richard Loseby, senior writer, Ogilvy: “It’s not often an agency gets to create such a large-scale cinematic commercial, then collaborate with some extremely talented filmmakers and actors in order to make it happen, but we’ve been lucky enough to do that twice now, in as many years.”

You just used a glider as the creative device for a fuel company.
whut?
the fuck??
Twee and manufactured as a Sunday luncheon.
And what’s with the sheep? Why make it sexual?
Can I have my script back?
oh. my. god. And to think Richard Loseby once told me I didn’t have anything….sheesh bro.
I watched for 15 seconds and then vomited in my mouth.
80’s family movie thing in a creepy b-grade way.
Weird underage romance thread.
Using a glider as a main element of a fuel commercial (golf clap).
Then a sheep. Because New Zealand.
Please all the awards belong to these guys.
Where are the Maori patrons in this campaign? It’s appalling.
