Australian Gas Networks encourages Aussies to ‘love winter’ in new campaign via CHE Proximity
Australian Gas Networks (AGN), with the help of CHE Proximity, has launched a new campaign that encourages Australians to ‘love winter’ this year.
Directed by FINCH’s Jae Morrison, the campaign is led by three TVCs – Cooking with Gas, Nup and House Pants. The series brings to life authentic and relatable scenarios around enjoying the great indoors this winter, with a focus on natural gas when its benefits are the strongest.
Acting marketing manager of Australian Gas Networks, Chris Hewson, says the energy infrastructure category is traditionally dominated by rational and functional messaging, which AGN wanted to change.
Says Hewson: “We really wanted to flip this functional convention on its head and drive desire for Natural Gas through emotion when it’s most applicable, in winter”.
Group creative director at CHE Proximity, Glen Dickson, says the agency’s approach to the campaign was to show Aussies that there’s a bright side to the colder months.
Says Dickson: “Typically, Aussies yearn for beach and BBQ weather, but with this campaign Aussies might rethink their favourite season.”
AGN’s ‘Love Winter’ campaign launches this month across a variety of platforms nationally, including TV, out of home, online media, cinema and radio.

Love your work Joe and Garret. These are really great.
Far more Yup, than Nup! These are awesome.
Cracker ads! Nice one.
Great scripts.
Love these, just so so right!
Nice idea, well executed

You CHEP people really know how to blow your own trumpet.
These are very, very average.
These are just boring and bland. And what’s with Tone Loc blabbering on in the background, I had to check my speakers to see if I had music on at the same time. You couldn’t do a simple track edit?
We’d like our line back thanks.
Really sweet. Love the writing.
These ads are the best I’ve heard for ages – LOVE THEM! Whoever
was involved are brilliant. They make me smile every
time I hear one. Love your work!
These are far and away my favourite ads this winter. The kind that make me leave the radio ON. They work so well for both radio and TV. Just love these. Especially NUP.
In the “House pants” tvc, why does the girlfriend sit down on the couch STILL wearing her jacket? Shouldn’t the room be warmed up, seeing her boyfriend has already turned on the gas heating and is now in his House pants? Bad blue; should’ve been picked up by someone at a reputedly clever agency.
Imagine taking money from fossil fuels and perpetuating the climate crisis. Absolutely unconscionable.
