AFI Award winning director Emma Freeman joins The Otto Empire’s roster for representation

Hot on the heels of wrapping the 5th season of Offspring, AFI Award winning director Emma Freeman has joined The Otto Empire.

The past few years have seen Freeman direct episodes of the critically acclaimed series of Puberty Blues, Offspring, and continue her collaborative project with International Band Coco Rosie.

The work Freeman has created with Coco Rosie has attracted the attention of Martin Scorsese, Jim Jarmusch, Yoko Ono and Gus Van Sant.

Most recently, she has begun development for an ongoing project with Icelandic musician Bjork.

Freeman’s short film, ‘Lamb’ won Tropfest 2002 and went on to screen at Locarno, Palm Springs, Cork, American Cinematheque and NY International Film Festivals.

In 2010, she received two AFI nominations for Best Direction in Television for Tangle and Hawke. She won with Hawke and also received a 2011 Australian Directors Guild Award for the ground breaking telemovie.

Commercially, Freeman’s work is known for its strength in performance direction with a touch of humor.

She was described by Screen International  as one of ‘the hottest new names poised to follow in the footsteps of A-List stars and filmmakers’.

Freeman joining the company coincides with the launch of a new website for OTTO, writer/director Sophie Edelstein’s continuation of her work with Gucci in London as she launches into another series of films with the high end fashion brand, and the commencement of an exciting street art project taking place at the OTTO Melbourne Warehouse, in collaboration with artist Paul McNeil.
