For the first time in the history of the Global Awards, South Africa will play host to an international judging session.

Says South Africa’s Fine: “We are thrilled to be hosting the inaugural African judging session of the Global Awards. Health is the new wealth – and with this realisation we have seen a sharp increase in the number of healthcare messages in all kinds of media in Africa. In judging the work we remain of the opinion that creative excellence is of paramount importance. So our focus will be on simplicity and innovation, and particularly the role technology plays in ensuring acceptance, delivery and response to carefully selected key messages.”

Says Spain’s Loran: “It is an honor for Global Healthcare to be hosting a Global Awards local judging session indeed. I feel it is definitely the awards that set the excellence standard for healthcare communication internationally. This year I’ll be looking for better work that keeps on pushing the creativity level in our sector further. Big ideas that go beyond “the expected” and that find smart, effective solutions in this environment of economical crisis we are living in.”

The Global Awards Board is spearheaded by Tom Domanico, chairman Emeritus, Draftfcb Healthcare USA. The board is represented by a panel of prominent health care professionals whose reputations and knowledge of the industry continually generate prominence and expand the international reach of the Global Awards. Board members guide the judging process and ensure that the competition addresses the evolving needs of the healthcare communications industry.

In 2010, The Global Awards added online judging sessions for digital entries.  These online sessions continue to allow an additional base of international jurors from regions with both established and growing healthcare markets to participate on The Global Awards grand jury.

Now in its 18th year, The Global Awards receives entries from healthcare corporations, hospitals, advertising agencies, production companies, and design studios that produce communications for medical, pharmaceutical, and healthcare related products.
