Young Glory unveils 18k Gold Championship Rings to celebrate winners; announces first judges of 2020-21 season

Global ‘creative consistency’ competition Young Glory has unveiled a new prize for its Professional and Student winners.

Says Rafik Belmesk, co-founder, Young Glory: “We usually invite our overall winners to present at C2 Montreal, but the travel situation being what it is, we had to think of something else to celebrate their achievement. Like in any competitive sport, we felt a championship ring appropriately represented the effort our participants go through over an 8-month season.”

Win it in your 20s. Cash it in your 50s.

Continues Belmesk: “It was important for us to create something our winners will actually want to hold on to. By making the rings out of solid gold, we created the only trophy in the industry that gains value through time. Gold is the ultimate safe haven investment after all. Shipping it to last season’s winners in the Ukraine and Australia was trickier than we thought, but we figured it out.”

Structured under the format of “8 months, 8 briefs, 8 big name judges”, Young Glory invites individuals and teams of two to compete over 8 conceptual briefs to earn points and ultimately be crowned the world’s most creatively consistent talent.

Founded in 2011, Young Glory’s aim was to identify emerging creative talent that could adapt to any kind of challenge- akin to the requirements in modern agency life. It’s a model that has proven to do just that, with former Young Glory winners going on to hold senior creative leadership roles at companies like Google, Facebook, AKQA, R/GA, GS&P and Wieden+Kennedy.

The 2020 Season begins October 1st with McCann Health global chief creative officer Matt Eastwood setting the brief. He’ll be followed in November by Diego Machado and Hugo Veiga, worldwide chief creative officers of AKQA, Harsh Kapadia, executive creative director of VMLY&R New York in December and Nedal Ahmed, senior copywriter at Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam in January.
