Wavemaker promotes Rebecca Drummond and Marco Del Castillo to joint strategy directors

Wavemaker Australia has promoted dynamic duo Rebecca Drummond and Marco Del Castillo to strategy directors, in recognition of their professional growth and achievements.

Del Castillo has been with Wavemaker for close to six years, and Drummond for just under five years. They have steadily progressed within the agency over that time and have been working as a strategy unit for the past two years. They are both active members and contributors to boards within the network, with Del Castillo sitting on the Wavemaker Global Marketing Board and Drummond on the GroupM nCo board, GroupM’s Young Leaders Committee, a cross-agency panel of emerging leaders tasked with finding innovative ways to enhance company culture.

Drummond and Del Castillo have been nominated for, participated in and won many internal and industry awards for their contribution to the agency, the industry and Wavemaker clients. They are recent AWARD school graduates, are active contributors to charity causes, have been awarded Wavemaker of the year, and this year were national finalists in the Cannes Young Lions competition. On top of this, they are both winners and finalists on emerging talent lists, including B&T 30 Under 30 and Mumbrella neXt.

Within Wavemaker, they pair have been instrumental in new business wins, including NSW and SA Government, Beats, and most recently Australia Post.

Says James Hier, chief growth and product officer, Wavemaker Australia: “Work never gets out of the agency without a great many hands touching it, and Bec and Marco are continually called out for their collaborative approach and great attitude by the people they are working with. Their passion for smart, innovative thinking is undeniable, and they are always looking for a better way to do things. I’ve no doubt that one day, I’ll be asking them for a job.”

Wavemaker is part of GroupM, which is part of WPP AUNZ, Australasia’s leading creative transformation company.
