Thinkerbell appoints Catherine King to the role of head thinker – earned media to lead PR

Thinkerbell is expanding its presence in Sydney and PR with the appointment of Catherine King as head of PR, or as Thinkerbell like to put it head thinker PR – earned media.

King is a marketing and communications specialist with expertise in public relations led integrated communications, in a career that spans over 20 years.

King started in PR at a time when media releases were faxed to journalists and when the industry covered everything from large scale public promotions and major launches to talent, crisis management and national sponsorship deals. King then worked in an integrated communications environment heading up PR at Naked Communications, where she previously worked with Thinkerbell co-founder Adam Ferrier. After Naked King took on the role as general manager of The Conscience Organisation (TCO).

Says Margie Reid, managing partner, Thinkerbell: “We are really pleased to have Cath on board. Her broad, yet PR focused career ensures we have a proven PR leading the team, but also someone who is able to understand how PR strategically integrates into the rest of the marketing mix. Catherine is the embodiment of measured magic, being that perfect balance of a level head, with the ability to sprinkle some magic dust.”

Says King: “I’m so excited to be joining the Thinkerbell team. They’ve rocked the market and created a strong name for themselves in a short period of time. I look forward to leading the earned media offering and building on the strong foundations the company already has in the PR world.”

King has also sat on the board of SugarByHalf and is a local co-founder of a comms hackathon event called Good For Nothing. In addition to her work with Thinkerbell, King works for the World Bank Group as a communications consultant, and leads creative think tank, The Romantics.

PR clients of Thinkerbell include IAG consumer brands, Accor hotels (including Art Series Hotels), Calbee, 13CABS, and Our Watch.
