OMD Sydney raises record amount of $19k for children’s charity The Pyjama Foundation

OMD Sydney has raised a record amount of $19,000 for charity, The Pyjama Foundation, at the agency’s annual ‘Pyjamathon’ fundraiser. Now in its third year, OMD’s ‘Pyjamathon’ is an amazing race styled event, where 15 teams compete against each other, racing around Pyrmont to complete a series of challenges.

The event is coordinated by OMD Sydney’s social responsibility pillar, OMDonate, which The Pjyama Foundation is the leading charity partner. This annual fundraising event adds to the breadth of work that OMDonate has conducted for the charity, since the partnership was established in 2017.

To date this year, OMD has invested 350+ hours into strategy, planning, trading and creative execution of the charity’s 2019 campaign. This included a creative refresh and activity across multiple media channels. This is a key period for the foundation to raise awareness and encourage donations to support their Pyjama Angel program. Since 2017, OMD Sydney has worked with the Pyjama Foundation for its annual campaign, securing over $3.3M+ in media value with support from our media partners.

Says Aimee Buchanan, CEO, OMD Australia: “Giving back is an integral part of our culture, across all levels of the agency. Not only does our partnership with The Pyjama Foundation give our people a greater purpose outside of their everyday roles, but it contributes to the essential funding required to continue the wonderful work they do.”

Says Amanda Watts, The Pyjama Foundation lead on OMDonate: “OMD’s Pyjamathon just keeps getting bigger and better each year! The event is not only a great team building activity, but best of all it’s raising money for such an incredible charity. I’m so pleased to see us increasing our total donation each year. The OMD Pyjamathon day is a great way for all OMD employees to celebrate the year round work we do for The Pyjama Foundation.”

Says Bronwyn Sheehan, founder and executive director of The Pyjama Foundation: “The Pyjama Foundation mentors children in foster care with learning, life skills and confidence in order to change the direction of their life path. The process of screening, recruiting and training our volunteers and placing them with a foster child to mentor is $500, a small investment for a life time of potential change. With the support from OMD we can convert $19,000 into 38 new and committed Pyjama Angels, who are so excited to mentor a child in foster care, who are desperately awaiting their arrival.”
