Ogilvy Melbourne promotes GAD Danielle Chapman to the role of managing partner
Ogilvy Melbourne has bolstered its leadership team, promoting Danielle Chapman to the role of managing partner.
Chapman, who joined Ogilvy Melbourne almost three years ago, was previously group account director responsible for some of the agency’s biggest clients, most recently leading the Mondelēz creative account.
Says Gavin MacMillan, managing director, Ogilvy Melbourne: “We are truly excited about Dan joining our leadership team. She has built a reputation as being creatively driven but also commercially minded. Combined with exceptional human and leadership qualities, this makes her a great asset to have on our team.”
With a career spanning more than two decades, Chapman’s experience includes tourism, financial services, telecommunications and FMCG. She has worked with some of Australia’s biggest brands such as Cadbury, Telstra, Garnier, James Boag, Peters and PZ Cussons. Prior to joining Ogilvy, she held senior roles at Publicis Mojo, GPY&R and CHE.
In her new role Chapman will continue to head the Mondelēz creative account and take a leading role in the agency’s growth in mass personalisation blending creativity, data and technology.
Says Michael McEwan, managing director, Ogilvy Melbourne: “We believe Dan will add great value not only to our leadership team but to the agency as a whole. She has great empathy and understanding towards the needs of our clients and great rapport with all our people. This is a much-deserved promotion.”
Says Chapman: “I’m very excited to be joining Ogilvy Melbourne’s leadership team. Together the leadership team has a clear and focused vision for the agency and its clients, one that’s both creative and results driven.
“Ogilvy Melbourne has deep wealth of talent and a great portfolio of brands. I am looking forward to being part of the agency’s ongoing success story.”
Ogilvy Melbourne is part of WPP AUNZ, Australasia’s leading creative transformation company.

Two managing directors and a managing partner? Who manages what? Does the partner own the business? For a comms company hierarchy is not a strong point.
Well done Dan. I’m sure the ratio will even out soon enough, probably not by adding more women as Managing Partners.
Who will win?
Most agencies have one MD not three. Can someone explain the reason for having more than one? Especially in an agency of 50?
i would be absolutely terrified if i was a creative working at ogilvy with three suits and one one creative in the management team
Ogilvy never been a creatively lead agency in Australia. It’s more about the pleasing the client.
Well done Dan x
Good job Dan! Good luck with everything!
Well deserved, nice one Dan !
Well done Dan and congratulations. Sad comments here focusing on the wrong thing. Great operator and great client person.
Oh ok
1. Dan is a fabulous person and a great professional. She was promoted by merit and nothing else.
2. If you don’t have anything nice to say, just don’t say a thing.
3. Or just grow up and use your real name.
Well done Dan!
Dan is a fantastic professional, one of the best in the industry. So proud and happy for her to receive a well-deserved promotion!
Congrats, Dan. A brilliant human with an emotional element. A trait that is absolutely lacked in most agencies.
If Ogilvy feel it’s of benefit to their team and clients to have a top heavy senior team at the forefront, why do you care?
Carry on.
Personally, I miss Jo Rozario.
Oooof that woman! Amazing and inspiring.
Box ticked. Move on.
Why do all the articles about Ogilvy always ending up having the most comments?
oh boy. This joint just keeps delivering, doesn’t it?
