Miss Bossy Boots photographer Jesper Nielsen explores our perception of likeness and kinship in his ongoing series ‘Siblings.’
Siblings was born out of Nielsen observing the changes in appearance between his two teenage children as they grew older.
Says Nielsen: “As my children grew up they looked so alike that my wife and I, to our amusement, were frequently asked if they were twins… they are two years apart. As they became teenagers, I watched as their physical appearance changed and I felt they looked very different to each other.
“Doing their portraits, as a xmas present for my mother in-law, looking at the images I realised they still looked identical. What had changed was not their physical appearance, but my perception of their appearance.”
Nielsen will continue to develop this series in 2021 and is inviting people to be photographed as part of this series.
