Mike Kay appointed head of client advice and business development at Initiative Sydney

Mike Kay has been appointed head of client advice and business development at Initiative Sydney following a series of new business wins at the agency, including the $30 million Carnival Australia portfolio, KPMG, ARN and Fujitsu.

Kay will transition to Initiative from his current role as managing director of IPG Mediabrands specialist retail division Rufus. Prior to Rufus, Kay worked at fellow Mediabrands agency UM where he was head of client advice and led large global accounts including Coca-Cola, Johnson & Johnson, Spotify and H&M.

Says Melissa Fein, CEO, Initiative Australia: “Our Sydney clients and media-owner partners will benefit greatly from Mike’s experience and leadership capabilities. He is a very talented business leader who will contribute not only to our clients’ progress but also to our overall business.”

In his new role Kay will also be a member of Initiative Australia’s senior leadership team.

Says Kay: “I’m incredibly excited to be taking on this new opportunity. Initiative Sydney has strong momentum and we have great talent in our team. We have a clear point of differentiation with our Cultural Branding proposition and I’m looking forward to working closely with our clients and media partners to create trailblazing work together.”

A successor for the leadership role at Rufus will be announced at a future date.
