Melbourne agency TABOO promotes Matilda Hobba to the role of general manager

Matilda Hobba has been promoted to general manager of experience-led creative agency, TABOO.

Hobba, who joined TABOO in 2016 as client services director, has been instrumental in evolving the agency’s offering and driving 40% year-on-year revenue growth. Over this time, the Melbourne–based agency has grown from 9 to over 30 staff, with major clients including TAC, Telstra, MECCA, Hennessey, Haagen-Dazs, Bonds and the Victorian Government.

Hobba will work alongside partner and strategy director James Mackinnon to run the day-to-day operations, while the promotion allows TABOO’s founder and managing director Andrew Mackinnon to focus on the company’s ambitious expansion plans.

Says Hobba: “TABOO is an agency I truly believe in. It creates ideas that live in the real world and that people genuinely want to participate in – and it operates in an honest, energetic and culturally-connected way. The last three years have been about refining the way we do things and who we do it with – and we’re ready to take what we’ve built and hurl it with full force into the next chapter.”

Says James Mackinnon: “Tilly’s promotion to GM reflects the value she’s brought to the agency and the respect she has from our team and clients. Tilly leads with authority and empathy in perfect measures and we couldn’t be more excited to have her at the helm.”
