Mammal appoints Robert Cartlidge as creative consultant and Valeria Camin as art director
Advertising and marketing agency Mammal has lured two new creatives, giving the company an opportunity to claim they’re adding to a ‘growing creative department’ – as well as allowing them to adopt overused metaphors like ‘lured’.
One of the two appointments, Robert Cartlidge, joins Mammal from his euphemistic role as a creative consultant.
Says Cartlidge: “I’ve quite enjoyed being unempl… I mean, a consultant, but it’s time to pick up the tools and talk about how thrilled I am to have the opportunity to join the dynamic working environment at <insert agency name here>.”
Art director Valeria Camin is equally enthusiastic.
Says Camin: “I’ve admired Mammal’s work ever since I read their ad looking for a creative team. There was an empty chair in the creative department, and I have a bum, so I’m confident it will be a great fit.”
Mammal co-owner and creative partner Luke Chess is excited about the opportunity these appointments present to gain a couple of column inches in trade press and promote his agency.
Says Chess: “I like to talk about Valeria and Rob as a truly modern creative pairing, as this then gives me a chance to describe Mammal as a cutting-edge, strategically-driven, creatively-focused, nimble and agile shop, ideally positioned for the challenges of 21st Century marketing. I usually go on to mention effectiveness across our growing client roster, and something that implies digital and mobile, like ‘multiple platforms’ or ‘compelling user experiences’.”
Cartlidge and Camin joined Mammal at the beginning of July and the team is actually very pleased to have them aboard.
More to come.

Best press release I’ve read in a while
Great press release. Thank you.
The legend returns. Congratulations Rob.
No Disruption?
Great hires and a great press release. Congrats to all involved.
Lol. When Rob writes his own press release.
I resent this comment.
Honest and brilliant… Keep the dream alive…
Gold press release.
Lol. Great press release. More of this please.
Ha ha, nice one Rob. Congrats.
Yeah, but Luke also writes in the same satirical tone as Cartlidge; so I am going with a joint write up. Very funny guys.
Bingo.
Nice one Rob and #realluke. A great fit.
Congrats Rob, well done!
Great press release, great hires. Rob is a funny fucker
Now that’s just refreshing! Go Rob – funniest bloke I’ve ever worked with.
Gold. This should get a run in Sydney Sentinal
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEW!
The 1%er who gives %110.
Onya Rob! You’re the David Thorne of our world. Keep me laughing.
The wall needs more graffiti, but well done Mr Cartlidge. Miss your consulting.
Onya Robstar 🤙
Go Mammal! Ace hires. A bargain at the price. Rob is a legend. And he’s here all week and would like you all to try the veal.
If only all press releases were this honest and funny.
Nailed it.
Molto bene Valeria!
This is great!!! Rob is a boss!! Congrats to both and to Mammal for inheriting the A-team
I’ve never met a creative that fights for ideas like Cartlidge… It’s mesmerising (and a bit scary) to see in action. Good luck Luke and team Mammal, I hope “more to come” comes soon. X
Cracker of a press release haha… Congrats on the new gig Robbo! x
Robert Cartlidge’s real name is “The Legend”. Easy mistake, but you don’t want him bullying you.
Have a few beers with Cartlidge. You’ll likely never do it again, but it’s worth it.
L Chess + R Cartlidge = checkmate. Intelligent weirdo teams with weirdo who’s intelligent.
Stay physically and mentally strong Cartlidge, and the metal will come. Don’t get lazy.
Thank you for all the lovely comments, everybody.
I’ve had a brilliant, exciting, and challenging first few weeks at Mammal, working with the scarily talented Valeria. Which is bloody fantastic! (But Luke is annoying, as his ideas are frustratingly great.)
(So please don’t send Luke your portfolio, as I like it here.)
And Brad P, I’m not “the boss”.
So Mammal luckily still have all their clients, and haven’t chucked any profits on black at Star Casino despite my business case study.
Good pick, Rob’s bloody fantastic, Mammal is lucky to have him!
Just heard the happy news and if true my door is open on odd occasions . But you can kick it down if you want to keep your Maroubra reputation going. Chat in the am. Just answer the thing.. Been trying to confirm since I heard. And don’t f’n worry!!!
I am wondering where Rob is now? This surprisingly intelligent weirdo brings a lot to an agency and he deserves another shot to unleash.
Damn this is good.
I decided to search all things Mammal on CB, as I’ve never heard of them, after the ECD’s ‘tantrum’ defending poor creative. But this press release is pure gold, and shows what you’re actually doing. Which ‘I think’ is challenging industry bullshit. More please, as advertising is getting boring. (Ignore if I’m completely wrong and this was a serious post.)
